Jessie Israel has a 15 year track record of bringing together groups to invest in local community development, environmental and equity issues. She has trained around the world on building public-private partnerships & developing sustainable communities. Israel currently works with King County Parks, where she has transformed the department into an efficient performance-driven organization – ensuring that 25,000 acres of open space remains open to the public – even during hard fiscal times. Israel believes that sound environmental decisions make our neighborhoods better and our economy stronger. Her environmental priorities include working to develop strong, walkable communities that ensure we can meet the demands of growth and housing while preserving open space and working to find smart, efficient investments in transportation, transit, energy efficiency and innovation. Israel is committed to solving problems through innovation and inclusive, decisive leadership and will be a true environmental champion on the Seattle City Council.
