Endorsed: Joan McBride, Kirkland City Council, Position 1
Washington Conservation Voters is proud to endorse Joan McBride’s campaign for re-election to the Kirkland City Council once again. McBride has held office for three consecutive terms on the Council and currently serves as Deputy Mayor. McBride has been a strong environmental vote on the council, championing issues such as Kirkland’s “Complete Streets” ordinance, the rebuild of antiquated 116th freeway access ramps with bike and pedestrian amenities along 116th, and securing an additional $8.3 million from Sound Transit to fund Kirkland Downtown Transit Center. Also during McBride’s tenure, Kirkland has adopted strong policies regarding their tree canopy and partnered with King County Public Health to develop Kirkland Neighborhood Walking Maps. McBride has been a great environmental vote on the Council and we’re looking forward to her fourth term.
