Endorsed: Maureen McCarry, Issaquah City Council, Position 5
Washington Conservation Voters is proud to endorse Maureen McCarry for her re-election campaign for Issaquah City Council, as we were in 2005. During her last term, McCarry worked hard to secure 40 acres containing the wild life corridors and the trailhead on Squak Mountain, protected the wetland buffer along 24th Ave. NE, and worked to set Issaquah's first tree canopy ordinance and goal. In addition, as a two term City Council President, she helped preserve forested hillsides; establish a comprehensive and better funded program for biking and walking improvements, extend the local transit service throughout the city, and secure a million dollars for a human services campus. We think McCarry has been a strong environmental vote on the Council and has a strong vision for the future of Issaquah.
