Penny Sweet is running for Kirkland City Council and has earned the endorsement of Washington Conservation Voters. Sweet has a strong understanding of environmental issues affecting Kirkland and is committed to making sure that the city grows in a sustainable way. Some of Sweet’s environmental priorities include working with regional leaders to secure transit service for the eastside and Kirkland in particular, supporting campaigns that encourage our citizens to get out of their cars and use the available systems, and working with builders to encourage greater use of sustainable building practices including use of green roofs and recycled materials, drought resistant native plantings and integrated energy systems. We think Sweet has a strong vision for Kirkland’s future and will be a friend of the environment on the council.
