Jack Weiss is an environmental champion of first order.  He has been a constant voice for smart growth policies and vocal in advocating for implementation through urban village planning, annexations, and rezoning. He has led the way in the city’s work to intelligently provide for alternative transportation needs – advocating for bike lanes and transit.  Weiss spearheaded the adoption of a first in nation resolution opposing Canadian tar sands bitumen which other cities around the country are now looking to as a model for how local governments can address this environmental catastrophe. He not only consistently votes the right way, but works long hours to make sure that issues that affect our quality of life are on the Council agenda.
