Mayor Marchione has two terms demonstrating an incredibly strong history of working on environmental issues.  He worked with the council to adopt a Green Agenda by which they measured the carbon footprint of City government and are now moving to measure the whole city. This information is vital for the city to better understand its impacts and possible changes it can make to improve the overall health of the community.  He continues to promote growth in central Redmond, focusing on jobs/housing balance, so that Redmond will be ready for light rail placement.  He also led the initiative to build a downtown park, to ensure that density is coupled with open spaces for people to enjoy.
