Big Wins on our Common Agenda.  Big wins for the Environment!

After launching our 2011 Common Environmental Agenda, read more below, we have some big wins to report.

Working with our environmental coalition partners, business and labor we successfully won for Metro Transit.  Ensuring that our water, air and quality of life will not suffer from increased traffic and congestion.

Working at the Seattle city level with groups like Transportation Choices Coalition, Futurewise, Streets for All Seattle and major business groups we successfully lobbied the city council to pass a much needed investment in transportation choices.  This initiative that will go before the voters will give Seattle residents a voice in what kind of transportation future they see.  We worked to ensure the package included more than 50% transit, and money for pedestrian and bike safety.  We are excited to see this package move forward and will help to tell the story to voters in the fall.

King County Introduces Common Environmental Agenda and Environment Wins!

In early 2011 the King County chapter along with many environmental partners launched the King County Common Agenda to speak with one voice at the local level on the most important environmental issues of the day.

Agenda:

1.  Save Metro Transit!  Pass short term funding source to stop devastating cuts to bus service in King County.

2.  Invest in Seattle transportation.  Pass a funding source that allows for increased transit reliability and speed, as well as promoting safety for walkers and bikers in our neighborhoods.

3.  Preserve our Farmland.  Farmland is a precious resource in our county and should be preserved.  King County must vote no to moving important farmland out of production and into suburban land use.

KCCV has a proven track record of success.
