Richard Conlin is running for re-election to the Seattle City Council and has a long record of environmental leadership over his previous three terms. During his time on the council, Conlin has chaired the Neighborhoods, Sustainability, and Community Development Committee, Transportation Committee, and Environment, Emergency Management, and Utilities Committee, emphasizing his commitment as an environmental leader on the City Council.
Richard Conlin is running for re-election to the Seattle City Council and has a long record of environmental leadership over his previous three terms. During his time on the council, Conlin has chaired the Neighborhoods, Sustainability, and Community Development Committee, Transportation Committee, and Environment, Emergency Management, and Utilities Committee. Conlin spearheaded adoption of the Zero Waste Strategy, which committed Seattle to a long-term reduction in the amount of garbage landfilled through new and innovative waste reduction, recycling, and product stewardship strategies, including a ban on Styrofoam and expanded food waste recycling. In addition, Conlin’s other environmental accomplishments include working to implement regional plans to improve transit and developing new funding sources for transportation maintenance, and strengthening protection of our urban forest, including a resolution on protecting groves of trees. Conlin has long been an environmental leader on the City Council and has demonstrated a clear vision for the future of Seattle.
