Nick Harper, 31, is in one of the most competitive primary elections in the state! Challenging incumbent Democratic Senator Jean Berkey, Nick is working hard to make sure Everett, Marysville and the rest of the 38th legislative district is represented by a true progressive. Nick, who currently serves at the Snohomish County Conservation Director for Cascade Land Conservancy, will be a champion for transportation solutions, funding for our schools and working families. This is a sharp contrast to Berkey who even in these incredibly difficult economic times voted to cut unemployment benefits, even as she voted to approve a permanent business tax cut. Berkey has not been a friend to the progressive community. It is time for new energy and leadership, and Nick is it!

JP Kemmick headshot“As a young person, I feel compelled to fight against climate change, but I do so not out of fear but out of unfailing hope, out of a definitive optimism that we can stop climate change and in the process bring about a wealth of positive change for everyone on this planet.  The political system we have in place may not be perfect, but if we're going to make real change, we're going to have to work with it.  Our politicians need to know that our earth is non-negotiable and we need strong action now." -JP Kemmick, Pierce Conservation Voters
