Great Night for the Environment

Last night was an incredible night for the environment. Elections are about change and environmental voters, like yourself, made their voices heard. I'm so proud and thankful for each of you in your role as voters, volunteers and donors - your participation gave us the ability to succeed.

Last night was an incredible night for the environment. Elections are about change and environmental voters, like yourself, made their voices heard. I'm so proud and thankful for each of you in your role as voters, volunteers and donors - your participation gave us the ability to succeed.

With the decisive win for Chris Gregoire in the race for Governor we are assured of another four years of leadership on tackling global warming and saving Puget Sound. In the race for Lands Commissioner, given current trends, we’re expecting Goldmark to win once all the votes are counted. The victory of these two alone speaks volumes about the importance of environmental issues in Washington elections.

Voters also defeated the anti-environment I-985 and passed Mass Transit Now-the light rail extension package. These victories move us in the right direction to address our transportation issues in a way that also helps us tackle global warming and protect our environment.

As we celebrate and wait for final results in legislative races and in the race for Commissioner of Public Lands, we look forward to working together to translate these electoral victories into lasting action to protect the health and beauty of our state.

Thank you for voting and for helping Washington Conservation Voters achieve big environmental wins.

Tim Burgess Headshot"Having the support of Washington Conservation Voters was extremely helpful in my campaign for Seattle City Council.  In a city like Seattle, being able to legitimately call myself the environmental candidate was a huge help, and helped me reach out to many voters on this important issue." -Tim Burgess, Seattle City Councilman
