Bellingham – The Whatcom County Chapter of Washington Conservation Voters is announcing today their endorsement of Dan Pike for Bellingham Mayor and Cathy Lehman in her candidacy for the Ward 3 position on the Bellingham City Council.

Dan Pike is seeking re-election for a second term as Mayor. Once again, the voters of Bellingham have a strong pool of candidates running for Mayor.  Washington Conservation Voters endorsed Pike because of his established record on key environmental issues.  “Mayor Pike has been an environmental champion for our community,” said Todd Donovan, co-Chair of Whatcom Washington Conservation Voters.   “During his term we have watched him lead through tough times, standing up for Lake Whatcom, responsible land use, and public transit."

Cathy Lehman, running for Bellingham City Council, is advocating on behalf of economic development, livability of neighborhoods, and a renewed emphasis on clean drinking water.  “Lehman has years of experience championing environmental causes and has the energy to resolve the tough challenges we face surrounding Lake Whatcom,” said Donovan. “After interviewing both candidates in this race, we are confident that Cathy Lehman will best represent the values we as a community share.”

Washington Conservation Voters is the statewide political voice for the environment and has an active Whatcom County chapter.  We work to elect environmentally responsible candidates to state and local offices to ensure the state and Whatcom County is a healthy and safe place to live.  The Whatcom chapter has had an ongoing successful local presence since the early 1990’s.  Find out more at www.wcvoters.org .
