Seattle - Washington Conservation Voters, the statewide political voice for the environment, endorses Eric Nelson for the Board of Supervisor’s position on King Conservation District.

The King Conservation District is a natural resources assistance agency authorized by Washington State and guided by the Washington State Conservation Commission. A five-member Board of Supervisors is responsible for all District programs and activities and their total annual revenue of approximately $6.3 million dollars.

Eric is a third generation farmer with a background in resource management. He brings both practical experience and a personal commitment to a healthy and sustainable King County.

“We are excited by Eric’s candidacy because he brings a knowledge of farming and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.  This combination is desperately needed on the King Conservation District,” said Brendan Donckers, co-chair of King County Conservation Voters, the local chapter of the statewide organization.

The King Conservation District election is open to anyone that resides in King County, except the cities of Federal Way, Algona, Pacific and Milton that have opted out of the District.

The voting has significantly changed this year and the election is completely online. Voter registration begins today at www.kingcd.org. The election will take place from February 15th – March 15th and those wishing to vote in person may go to the King Conservation District office on March 15.

“We urge voters to participate in this important election,” said Brendon Cechovic, Executive Director of Washington Conservation Voters. “The King County Conservation District Board controls significant habitat funding for the county, so this is a way for King County’s environmental voters to make a real impact.”
