Washington Conservation Voters, the statewide political voice of the environmental movement, is pleased to announce the hiring of Brendon Cechovic as its new Executive Director.

“Brendon is a proven leader with deep knowledge and strategic insights about the intersection of environmental policy and electoral politics,” said Ken Lederman, Board Chair of Washington Conservation Voters.  “His vision for the organization, and the passion and energy which he puts behind his vision, is really inspiring."

Brendon Cechovic has worked for Washington Conservation Voters since 2006, most recently as Political Director. He brings considerable experience as a political strategist, campaign director, and organizer in the environmental movement. Brendon’s accomplishments with WCV include successful campaigns in support of Governor Chris Gregoire, Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark, Yes on I-937, and dozens of state legislative races.

“The challenges we face – from cleaning up Puget Sound to addressing climate change – require a strong political voice,” said Joan Crooks, Executive Director of Washington Environmental Council. “Brendon is the kind of leader who will help the environmental community rise to meet these challenges head-on."

“Brendon Cechovic is an excellent choice for Washington Conservation Voters,” said Governor Chris Gregoire.  “He’s smart, creative and an excellent strategist.  He will help us build political coalitions that will recognize the importance of protecting Washington’s environment.  Congratulations to Brendon and to WCV.”
