Lieutenant Governor

Cyrus Habib currently represents East King County in the Washington State Senate.

In 2012, Habib was elected to the State House, making him the first and only Iranian-American elected official to hold state office in the United States. In the Senate, Habib serves on the Energy, Environment, and Telecommunications Committee, the Government Operations Committee, and the Transportation Committee.

In both the House of Representatives and the Senate, Habib has been a champion for fully funding our public schools, acting urgently to address climate change, investing in our transportation system, advocating a more open and accountable state government.

The Washington Post has named him one of the top 40 politicians in the U.S. under the age of 40 and Governing Magazine has listed him as one of 12 legislators to watch nationally.

Governor

The greenest Governor in the nation.

Since being elected in 2012, Governor Inslee has pushed environmental progress forward by:

  • Providing $176 million in historic state investment in clean energy and energy efficiency
  • Developing the first of its kind pollution runoff protection program for Puget Sound
  • Implementing the Clean Air Rule through executive action as a major step towards fully addressing climate pollution in Washington state
  • Negotiating the greenest transportation package in state history

Governor Inslee has lived his values through a career dedicated public services and spurring the clean energy economy. He has shown tireless dedication and made significant strides towards a renewable energy future in his first term. WCV expects even more progress for public health and clean air and water in a second Inslee term.
