Sponsorship Spotlight: Bricklin & Newman

We are so thankful to have the support of Bricklin & Newman, a law firm working for the environment. They share WCV’s values and focus their legal practice on enforcing environmental and land use laws.

Partners Dave Bricklin and Claudia Newman have both served on the Washington Conservation Voters and Washington Environmental Council boards. Dave is a former Chair of both organizations. We’re thankful for Dave and Claudia’s key partnership to the environmental community for many years and on many issues. Dave helped write the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA), one of the foundational laws protecting human health and our communities and co-chaired the successful initiative campaign that put it on the books. He was also a principal author of the Growth Management Act, which curbs urban sprawl and protects critical habitat, riparian areas, wetlands and resource lands. Both Dave and Claudia have helped draft the rules implementing the State Environmental Policy Act. Perhaps Dave’s most notable achievement was stopping a proposal for a ski resort in the Methow Valley – a case he argued in the United States Supreme Court. In the electoral realm, he successfully litigated in the Supreme Court the ballot title challenge for the Toxics Initiative and has also succeeded in obtaining a court order overturning a county decision to keep a WCV endorsed candidate off the ballot (when John Roskelley was running for Spokane County Commissioner).

All associate attorneys in the firm give their time and expertise to a variety of environmental organizations working for a clean environment, strong communities, and a better future for all of us.

Thank you, Bricklin & Newman, for your tireless effort and generous giving to WCV. Your dedication is leaving a lasting legacy on the Pacific Northwest environment for generations to come.
