For the majority of Americans, the answer is no, but at WCV we are constantly thinking about who will step up to run.
We have realized something simple: WCV has an important role to play reducing barriers to run for office to ensure that our landscape of elected officials represents and reflects their communities. Washington state needs more elected officials who really care about environmental issues and one of those people could be you.
We want to see a future where more elected officials are active community members who want to help solve the most critical challenges facing their community. Because of this, we are excited to announce the launch of I CAN, a candidate recruitment and development program to provide the extra support needed to elect true environmental champions to office.

Running for office takes a little bit of planning, so whether you think you could run now or in the future, or know someone who should, we want to talk with you! If you have stepped up in the past to knock on doors, make phone calls, attend community events, raise money for candidates, or vote, the next step might be running for office.
