Building the sustainable economy our communities deserve

Vancouver communities, businesses, unions, and elected officials said no to a proposal by a Texas oil company to build North America’s largest oil-by-rail terminal at the Port of Vancouver. Now we’re entering a new phase for organizing, activism, and advocacy in Vancouver and Southwest Washington. Let’s work together to focus our energies on proactive solutions to build a fair and sustainable economy and a just transition to renewable energy.

What is next?

WCV members, grassroots leaders, and partner organizations are working together to imagine a long-term campaign capable of:

  • Winning lasting prevention of fossil fuel development in Southwest Washington
  • Winning consequential policy to incentivize clean energy alternatives, energy efficiency and conservation, and sustainable family-wage union jobs in the region
  • Strengthening democratic participation and public engagement to build an equitable clean energy economy

Flow chart to our future

Right now, we have an opportunity to engage in the Port of Vancouver’s rewriting of its Strategic Plan. If we act now, community members can help shape the Port’s direction for the years ahead.

We envision a strong stance on fossil fuel reductions, renewable energy and energy conservation, labor standards and worker safety, community and public benefit, social equity, and more.

Please join us and add your voice to inform the Port’s Strategic Plan. Sign up here to stay in the loop!
